Heritage Assisted Living Centers
Heritage Assisted Living Centers announced the opening of a memory care facility. Heritage Court Memory Care Community is located at 14250 W. Hampton Ave., Menomonee Falls. The facility specializes in caring for residents with Alzheimer’s disease or related memory loss. Other Heritage Assisted Living Centers are Heritage at Deer Creek, New Berlin, and Lexington Heritage, Greenfield.
Ebenezer Child Care Centers
The Ebenezer Child Care Centers’ Oak Creek facility, located at 220 W. Forest Hill Dr., opened recently. The new facility is open Monday through Friday and provides licensed care for children from 4 to 12 years old.
Menomonee Falls Chamber of Commerce
The Menomonee Falls Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the 2004 Menomonee Falls Citizen of the Year award, which is open to the public. A committee of past recipients and citizens has nominated and selected those that have outstanding leadership qualities, perform community service and contribute to the betterment of the Menomonee Falls area and its citizens. All nominations must be submitted on the official Menomonee Falls Chamber of Commerce nomination form, which may be obtained by contacting the chamber.

Trustway Homes received the NRS Award in Homeowner Satisfaction First in Class for production builders with 50-99 closings in 2003. To determine the awards, NRS, Madison, surveyed 63,651 homeowners who had closed on a home in 2003, about their satisfaction with their homebuilder and the homebuilding process. An NRS index score for each builder was calculated by combining a scaled recommended score with the total homeowner satisfaction score.
Design North, Inc.
Design North, Inc., Racine, won five package design awards in the 2004 American Graphic Design Awards competition. The competition reviews new graphic design, advertising, art and marketing communications created by American graphic designers and art directors. Winning entries for Design North were: Birds Eye Organic Vegetables, Birds Eye Freshlike Vegetables, MinnKota Battery Charger, Palermo’s Primo Thin Pizza and Johnsonville Bratwurst. Wisconsin Lutheran College
Wisconsin Lutheran College, Milwaukee, has named Paul Boehlke, professor of biology, the endowed Gary J. Greenfield Chair of Christian Leadership Studies. Boehlke will start a collection of historical and reference works on the subject of creation, publish a major work from a Lutheran viewpoint on the subject, conduct a two-summer workshop for Lutheran educators on the subject of creation science, and develop an undergraduate course on the philosophy of science to be added to the college’s curriculum. Boehlke will be the endowed chair for three years. Prior to joining the staff at Wisconsin Lutheran College, Boehlke taught at Martin Luther College for 24 years. He holds a doctoral degree in science education and biology from the University of Iowa and degrees from Union College, Winona State University and Martin Luther College.

Maybar Manufacturing Co., Inc., Franklin, has acquired Service Steel and Supply Co., Inc., Milwaukee. Maybar Manufacturing specializes in designing and manufacturing custom parallel shaft speed reducers, machined parts and assemblies. Service Steel and Supply distributes commercial and industrial pipe fittings, valves and plumbing supplies. The addition of Service Steel and Supply will allow Maybar to provide orifice plugs, specialty fittings and other machined products. The inventory of Service Steel and Services will be relocated to the Maybar facility in Franklin.

Opportunities Industrialization Center of Greater Milwaukee, Inc. (OIC-GM), Milwaukee, has appointed Tyrone Dumas as full-time interim president. Dumas will fill this position until a replacement for Carl Gee, former president and chief executive officer, is hired. Dumas has experience in project design and management, quality control, budgeting and process delivery. Medical Associates’ Coumadin Clinic, Menomonee Falls, received the DREAM award from Roche Diagnostics, a maker of anti-coagulant diagnostic systems. DREAM stands for delivering excellence in anti-coagulant management. The award was given to the Coumadin Clinic for its health management program for the prevention of heart attacks, strokes and blockages of major arteries. The anti-coagulant Coumadin is used as part of the prevention program. The required criteria for nomination for the award included: the clinic must be treating patients for at least two years; the clinic must manage more than 250 Coumadin patients; the clinic must have a Couma-Care Trax account, which tracks patients; nurses must have complete formalized anti-coagulation training; employees must have standardized protocol and practice guidelines; and the clinic must have an ongoing clinical improvement evaluation and action plan.

Color Ink, Inc., Sussex, received seven awards, including two for Best of Category, in the 2004 Graphic Excellence Awards from Printing Industries of Wisconsin. Midwest Dieticians, LLC, Elm Grove, has begun facilitating a 21-week Recovery Skills program and a Family and Friends Group Process program designed to complement a patient’s treatment program for eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia and binge eating. The two new programs are part of the Eating Disorders and Education Network (EDEN), Fenton, Mich. Participation in the 21-week Recovery Skills aids patients in acquiring specific skills, retreating from isolation and interacting with peers. The Family and Friends Group Process is a 10-week program that helps families and friends of those with eating disorders manage boundaries, create a self-care plan and to provide support and encouragement. The next group sessions are currently being established for January 2005.
