Sendik’s Food Markets, based in Whitefish Bay, has expanded its management team with Mark Birmingham, executive director of new business development.
Birmingham joins Sendik’s after spending five years as president and chief executive officer of Stein Gardens & Gifts, a Milwaukee-based garden center with 16 locations throughout Wisconsin.
Prior to his tenure at Stein Gardens & Gifts, Birmingham spent 12 years at Allen Edmonds Shoe Corporation. From 2006 to 2008, he served as president and chief executive officer of the company.
“We are very pleased that Mark will be joining our team,” said Sendik’s co-owner Ted Balistreri. “We are committed to finding top talent to continue to grow our business, and Mark brings a skillset that will help us do just that. His business acumen, experience and strong leadership make him a natural fit to help us realize our long-term strategic objectives.”
“I am looking forward to joining the Sendik’s team and helping grow their already strong brand,” Birmingham said. “The opportunity to help lead new business initiatives for this local, family-owned and operated company is very appealing to me.”
Sendik’s is owned by the Balistreri family and currently has 11 stores in the region with an additional location slated to open in Hartland this year.
