Diners might see shorter wait times to grab a table at BelAir Cantina at The Corners of Brookfield starting next year.
That’s because the popular taco joint plans to add 3,000 square feet to the east side of its current location along Market Street, BelAir and The Corners announced Monday.
Construction will begin early next year on the project, which will include a larger indoor-outdoor bar, private dining room for large parties and banquets, and additional seating.
When the expansion is complete in early spring 2020, the restaurant will occupy a total of 8,150 square feet, with indoor seating for up to 230 people. BelAir said it will remain open during the expansion project and minimal disruption is expected during construction.
The first dining establishment to join The Corners, BelAir has seen huge success since opening at the shopping center in April 2017, according to a news release. The project is expected to help the restaurant better serve its diners.
“It’s been exciting to be a part of The Corners since the beginning, and we’ve been thrilled with the warm reception we’ve received from the Town of Brookfield and western suburban area,” Kristyn Eitel, partner of BelAir Cantina Brookfield Inc. said in a statement. “Since our opening two years ago, we’ve watched The Corners grow into a vibrant community space, and we’re thrilled to grow our presence at the town center.”
Eitel is co-owner of sister restaurant groups Mojofuco Inc. and Toro Toro Toro Inc., which operate a number of Milwaukee establishments, including Fuel Cafe, Comet Cafe, Hit Hat Lounge & Garage, Balzac Wine Bar and BelAir’s five area locations on Milwaukee’s Upper and Lower East Side, Wauwatosa, Oak Creek, Brookfield. It also has a location in Madison.
The Corners of Brookfield, which opened in April 2017, is comprised of 400,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, 244 luxury apartments and parking for more than 1,700 cars. It now houses an entertainment corridor, with other tenants including an Arhaus furniture store, Café Hollander restaurant, the Lake Country Social restaurant and an Improv comedy venue, which is expected to open in early 2020.
“We knew from the beginning that BelAir would be the perfect fit for our town center,” said Robert Gould, vice president of U.S. operations at IM Properties, co-developer of The Corners. “They have a popular and vibrant brand which brings a sense of fun and great value. BelAir, with their location on Market Square, has been integral in helping us create a sense of community for our visitors, and this expansion is a reflection of the customer support they have received. We’re thrilled to continue this wonderful partnership.”
