With a few anticipated changes, East Town Association announced today that it is bringing back Bastille Days, Jazz in the Park, and the Cathedral Square Market this summer. These events had been canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The schedule for this summer’s events at Cathedral Square Park is as follows:
- Cathedral Square Market will be held on Saturday mornings from June 18 to Oct. 15.
- Bastille Days is scheduled for July 14 through July 17.
- The “Storm the Bastille” 5K run/walk will be held July 14.
- Jazz in the Park returns on Thursday evenings from July 21 to Sept. 29
According to a press release from East Town Association, each of these events will have a smaller footprint as interim executive director Eddie Sturkey works to get operations back to normal levels following being non-operational for the past two years.
“Like many local festivals, we’ve faced significant challenges,” said Sturkey. “But we are committed to bringing a more focused and refreshed version of these events this year so that we can build momentum and come back even stronger next year.”
The popular Eiffel Tower replica statue will not be at this year’s Bastille Days festival due to the restoration work it requires. However, East Town Association officials are attempting to bring it back next summer.
Despite its smaller footprint, Bastille Days attendees can still expect the usual booths featuring French food and products and various entertainment acts.
