Badger Meter meets with shareholders

Badger Meter held its annual shareholder meeting Friday at Racine Federated Inc. in Racine, which the company acquired on January 31.

Company executives reviewed finances for 2011 and discussed the first quarter results with shareholders.
The company’s quarterly net sales grew to $76.2 million, up 32.9 percent from $57.4 million a year earlier. The most recent quarter included $7.4 million in sales from Racine Federated Inc.
Rising commodity costs for copper and iron ore, as well as lagging new home starts and automation of water metering have had effects on the business, said CEO Rich Meeusen.
The company also gave tours of Racine Federated, where the plan is to expand production from 60,000 square feet to an unused portion of the facility, for 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space.
