Waukesha could be getting the area’s first Avid Hotel, a hotel brand launched in 2017 by the InterContinental Hotels Group.
According to plans filed to the city by Nashotah-based design-build firm MSI General, the 95-room hotel would be built somewhere along Meadow Lane, which is southwest of Silvernail Road and Grandview Boulevard.
MSI has been selected to design and build the first Avid Hotel in the metro area. An Avid Hotel is slated to open in Monona (near Madison) this fall, according to the company’s website.
“IHG developed the Avid Hotel brand to serve a unique niche in the marketplace that emphasizes modern architecture, efficient amenities and an exceptional sleep experience,” according to a letter, dated Feb. 22, submitted to the city by Jay Craig, MSI General vice president and senior project executive.
The proposal is scheduled to be taken up by the city’s Plan Commission on March 27.
Other IHG hotel brands include Kimpton Hotels, Intercontinental Hotels, Crowne Plaza and Hotel Indigo. The first Avid Hotel was opened in the Oklahoma City suburb of Quail Springs in August. Others are under construction in Tulsa, Fort Wayne, Indiana, another in Oklahoma City.
A spokesperson with IHG did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
