Aurora Health Care is planning a four-story parking structure at the Aurora West Allis Medical Center campus, which will double parking at the hospital to 1,200 spaces when it’s complete in early 2017. It will be the second parking structure on the campus.

Under the proposed plan, spaces would be added on to the west-side parking structure between 90th and 91st streets along Lincoln Avenue. The project would create approximately 650 additional parking spaces for patients and staff.

“We believe it will create better accessibility to the hospital, including the Women’s Pavilion, and help reduce parking congestion that occurs during peak hours,” Rick Kellar, president of the medical center, said in a statement.

Aurora Health Care opened the Women’s Pavilion at West Allis Memorial Hospital in 2002, combining labor and delivery services previously offered at St. Luke’s Medical Center and West Allis Memorial.

The hospital serves residents of West Allis and the surrounding communities, through nearly 13,000 inpatient admissions and 140,000 outpatient visits annually.  More than 2,100 staff and 950 physicians are work on campus.
