AT&T Inc. announced Wednesday it has turned on its 4G LTE network in the Milwaukee market, bringing customers the latest generation of wireless network technology.
The 4G LTE is an upgrade from the company’s original 4G HSPA+ network. The new service is available from the Illinois border up through the Interstate 94 corridor to Mequon and west to Pewaukee.
The new network provides faster speeds. LTE technology is capable of delivering mobile Internet speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G. Customers can stream, download, upload and game faster than ever before.
AT&T offers several LTE-compatible devices, including new AT&T 4G LTE smartphones and tablets. The devices provide faster response times.
“We continue to see demand for mobile Internet skyrocket, and our 4G LTE network in Milwaukee responds to what customers want from their mobile experience – more, faster, on the best devices,” said Scott VanderSanden, president of AT&T Wisconsin.
“In an information-driven economy, the ability for the businesses and people of the Milwaukee area to have access to the latest communications technology is critical,” said State Rep. Mark Honadel (R-South Milwaukee). “This announcement is an investment in our future that will put our area in a better position to compete for good-paying jobs. It also shows that businesses and consumers benefit when we create policies that favor investment in our state.”
