Ascension Wisconsin has opened its new $42 million health center in Mount Pleasant, the first of the health system’s planned $100 million investment in the Racine area over the next few years.

The two-story, 72,000-square-foot medical center at 10180 Washington Ave. replaces the former Ascension All Saints Primary and Specialty Care Clinic, located across the street at 10340 Washington Ave. The new center has 160 full-time and part-time employees.

The center includes primary care, urgent care, imaging, a prescription center, lab services and a future surgery center. Specialty services include pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, urogynecology, orthopedics, pain management, cardiovascular, dermatology, occupational health, rehabilitation, pulmonary and behavioral health.

“Ascension Wisconsin’s goal is to make health care easier to access for our patients in the most efficient way possible,” said Bernie Sherry, ministry market executive for Ascension Wisconsin. “We have been caring for this community for nearly 150 years and we are excited to expand our services in Mount Pleasant to meet the community’s changing needs. As we continue to grow, our priority is to provide patients with the right care, at the right place and the right time.”

Ascension said it also exceeded its diversity hiring targets for the project. The health system set a goal of 15% for contracting minority and women-owned businesses and for hiring minority and women workers for the project, and surpassed them both, at 27.8% and 17.9%, respectively.

Ascension is one of several health systems expanding in Racine County. Advocate Aurora Health is building a 198,000-square-foot medical center and 98,000-square-foot medical office building on a 96-acre complex located northeast of I-94 and Highway 20 in Mount Pleasant. The project totals $228 million.

Froedtert South is also building a two-story hospital and four-story medical office building on 41-acre parcel located on the northwest corner of Highway 20 and Highway V in Mount Pleasant.
