Ascension Wisconsin plans to open a new primary care and women’s health clinic in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward.
The health system said it will make a $7.4 million investment in the planned 11,000-square-foot clinic in the historic Milwaukee Fire Engine Company No. 10 building at 176 N. Broadway. It’s expected to include 20 new full-time and part-time employees.
Retailer Pendleton Woolen Mills previously occupied the building, before closing in the spring.
The new Ascension Medical Group clinic will provide primary care, women’s health, lab, x-ray and ultrasound services.
“Our goal at Ascension Wisconsin is to provide an exceptional experience to individuals and families in southeast Wisconsin at an affordable cost,” said Doug Culling, clinical president of Ascension Medical Group Wisconsin. “This new clinical space will expand access to primary care services and bring women’s health services closer to home for the vibrant, growing Third Ward community.”
Construction of the facility is expected to begin in early 2020 and open later that year. Design of the clinic will incorporate historical elements from the existing building, Ascension said.
“The new Third Ward clinic upholds Ascension Wisconsin’s promise to provide compassionate, personalized care for all at the right time and right place,” said Bernie Sherry, ministry market executive for Ascension Wisconsin.“We’re excited to bring more expansive services to the Third Ward community, including the addition of women’s health services, the latest imaging technology and design elements that will enhance patient and family experience.”
