Ascension Living, a subsidiary of St. Louis-based Ascension Health, has signed a letter of intent to purchase Shorelight Memory Care, along with newly-constructed space on its Racine campus for a future skilled nursing community, the Catholic health care system announced Wednesday.
Shorelight Memory Care, a 36-bed facility located at 5643 Erie St., is owned by Siena on the Lake, Inc., a Racine-based nonprofit corporation.
The memory care facility is located on the Siena on the Lake campus, which also includes a retreat center and the Racine Dominican Sisters’ residences.
Under the transaction, the associates, residents and skilled care operation of Ascension Living’s Lakeshore Manor, a 50-bed skilled nursing facility located at the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints campus in Racine, would move to the currently vacant skilled nursing space on the Siena on the Lake Campus.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Bringing Shorelight Memory Care and Health Center into our ministry is an exciting continuation of our shared commitment and dedication to serving seniors,” said Gayle Trupiano, Ascension Living president and chief executive officer, in a news release. “The newly constructed space on the Siena campus will foster an environment of comfort and healing for our residents, and is a space where our associates can better care for those who have entrusted themselves in our care.”
“Our leadership team applies a rigorous review process when considering a potential partner,” added Sr. Maryann McMahon, president of the Racine Dominicans and Siena on the Lake, Inc. “Our organizations are guided by a shared faith and the promise to provide personalized, compassionate care to all. We are confident that Ascension Living will maintain the high degree of service and quality that Shorelight and Siena on the Lake has provided to our residents.”
