The Milwaukee Art Museum recently announced it will discontinue its Milwaukee Country Free Day Wednesday program in September. Instead, The Milwaukee Art Museum has partnered with Minneapolis, Minn.-based Target Corporation to allow any visitors to receive free admission to the museum the first Thursday of every month. Beginning Thursday, Sept. 2 Target Free First Thursdays will replace the Milwaukee County Free Day program.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to our visitors,” said Dan Keegan, Museum director. “Thanks to this fantastic partnership with Target, even more people can visit the Museum free of charge. By offering Thursday evening hours and opening up the free admission to all Museum goers, we anticipate a very successful program. In these difficult economic times, it is imperative that the Museum’s programming surrounding the arts, culture and family literacy be as accessible to as many people as possible.”
The Museum is open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursdays.
The program extends the relationship Target Corporation already had with the Museum.
“At Target, our local grants are making a difference in the communities we serve,” said Laysha Ward, president of community relations at Target. “We’re proud to partner with the Milwaukee Art Museum as part of our ongoing commitment to give back to the communities where our guests and team members live and work.”
