Arise Health Plan will begin offering insurance plans in 26 Wisconsin counties when Wisconsin’s Health Insurance Marketplace begins accepting applications Oct. 1.
The Wisconsin Office of Commissioner of Insurance issued a list of the final service areas for insurers participating in the Marketplace. The information wasn’t available until the insurer contracts were finalized with the federal government.
Green Bay-based Arise Health Plan, which is legally known as WPS Health Plan, Inc., will offer Marketplace plans in both the individual and small employer group markets.
Arise is a new arrival to Milwaukee County and southeastern Wisconsin, where it will provide a new option to customers shopping on the Marketplace.
Arise also will provide Marketplace insurance in these other counties: Brown, Calumet, Dodge, Door, Fond du Lac, Kenosha, Kewaunee, Langlade, Lincoln, Manitowoc, Marathon, Marinette, Oconto, Outagamie, Ozaukee, Racine, Shawano, Sheboygan, Taylor, Walworth, Washington, Waukesha, Waupaca, Winnebago and Wood.
Key provisions of the Affordable Care Act will become effective Jan. 1, 2014.
Arise is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corp. in Madison. WPS Health Insurance is not participating in the Marketplace in 2014.
