Ansay & Associates acquires Thomas Insurance Group

Port Washington insurance firm continues to grow

Port Washington-based insurance and benefit solutions company Ansay & Associates has acquired Oshkosh-based Thomas Insurance Group. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Thomas Insurance Group was founded about 40 years ago and offers personal, benefits and commercial insurance across Wisconsin.

Ansay was founded in 1946 and now has more than 220 employees at 11 Wisconsin offices, serving more than 5,000 business customers and 20,000 individual customers. The company said the acquisition of Thomas Insurance will enhance its insurance industry presence.

“This acquisition aids in Ansay & Associates’ vision of being a statewide insurance and employee benefits advisor. Our passion is making a difference in the lives of our clients and helping them to secure, protect and grow their versions of the American Dream,” said Mike Ansay, chief executive officer of Ansay & Associates.

“My team and I are very proud to be joining Ansay & Associates,” said Tom Pupeter, president of Thomas Insurance Group, in a statement. “We are excited about the opportunity to access more products and resources, and to offer our clients a wealth of additional products and services.”

Pupeter declined to comment further about his company or the transaction. Ansay could not be reached for additional information.

Ansay & Associates has been growing through acquisitions for the past year. In November 2015, it acquired Cedarburg-based Koehler Insurance. In April, Ansay acquired Franklin- and Oshkosh-based Servant Insurance Services and in May, it purchased Stevens Point-based Disher Insurance Services.

Michael Ansay said in April the acquisitions are being driven by the need to remain competitive and innovative in the marketplace, as well as a wave of retirements among insurance company owners.
