The public plaza outside Fiserv Forum this summer will be the new, more spacious home of the 45th annual Morning Glory Art Fair, the Milwaukee Bucks announced today.

In past years, the art fair has been held outside the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Milwaukee.

The event showcases art, available for purchase, that is crafted by a select group of regional and national artists. It is hosted annually by the Wisconsin Designer Crafts Council and has been named one of the top 100 art fairs in the U.S.

Taking place Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10 and 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the fair will feature works from 130 to 150 artists in 12 categories, including ceramics, digital art, jewelry, photography and sculpture.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Morning Glory Art Fair has been a great tradition in Milwaukee for more than 40 years, and we are thrilled to welcome it to the plaza in front of Fiserv Forum,” said T.J. Sagen, event programming manager at Fiserv Forum. “Community members will have the opportunity to meet artists from all over the country and to discover beautiful, hand-crafted art.”

Previously known as Morning Glory Fine Art Fair, the show has historically been limited to works categorized as fine art. But with additional space this year, thanks to the 80,000-square-foot plaza, the event will host more artists and will include 2D art such as oil paintings and watercolors.

Artist applications are now being accepted for the August event, according to WDCC’s website.

“We’re excited to bring our expanded Morning Glory Art Fair to a new and energized location that’s quickly established itself as a social and entertainment hub in Milwaukee,” said Robert Dickey, president of the WDCC.

Fiserv Forum’s public plaza, which is located outside the venue’s main entrance on the east side of the building, will annually host over 100 events throughout the year, Bucks president Peter Feigin said.

So far, it has been home to German holiday festival Christkindlmarket Milwaukee from mid-November through late December, and Milwaukee Oktoberfest in early October.
