American Eagle, Shaw’s Jewelers to close Bayshore locations

Joins growing list of stores and restaurants that have closed there recently

American Eagle and Shaw’s Jewelers will soon join the growing list of stores and restaurants that have closed recently at Bayshore Town Center in Glendale.

Pittsburgh-based clothing company American Eagle Outfitters Inc. will vacate the exterior storefront it has long-operated on the mall’s first level, adjacent to H&M and Barnes & Noble. Its last business day will be Jan. 26, said employee Janiya Marion.

In addition, Shaw’s Jewelers will close its Bayshore location on Jan. 19. An employee at the store, which is located inside the mall near the food court, said the closure comes as Arkon, Ohio-based parent company Sterling Jewelers Inc. merges the Shaw’s Jewelers brand name with Kay Jewelers.

Kay will continue to occupy its exterior storefront on the mall’s first level.

Bayshore has recently suffered a number of retail and restaurant closures, including Hom Wood Fired Grill, Sprecher Restaurant & Pub, and Board Game Barrister, which plans to relocate nearby early this year.

It lost anchor tenant Boston Store when parent company Bon-Ton shut down last year.

Late last year, Bayshore Town Center’s owner, Dallas-based Cypress Equities Managed Services L.P., proposed a $75 million redevelopment project that would reduce the retail space at Bayshore by almost half. The plan includes demolishing its north side indoor mall portion, which currently houses Shaw’s Jewelers and Board Game Barrister and other retailers, including Lids and Foot Locker.

In addition, the center’s second floor retail space would be converted into office space.
