Seattle-based ecommerce giant Amazon said Monday it plans to hire 100,000 new employees as it continues to expand its fulfillment and logistics network. A company spokesperson said that about 800 of those positions will be in Wisconsin. The jobs will primarily support the company’s fulfillment operations and include stowing, picking, packing and sorting customer orders “in a highly technological environment,” the spokesperson added, noting the company also has many open roles in management, IT, HR, safety and security. Amazon’s jobs page for Wisconsin currently lists seasonal full- and part-time warehouse team member positions in Kenosha with $1,000 and $500 sign-on bonuses respectively. There is also a posting for regular warehouse team members in Kenosha, along with roles in Madison, Greenville and Beloit. “We are opening 100 buildings this month alone across new fulfillment and sortation centers, delivery stations, and other sites,” said Dave Clark, senior vice president of worldwide operations at Amazon. “We are proud to be hiring 100,000 new associates with pay of $15 per hour or more across those buildings and in our network. Our expansion also comes with an unwavering commitment to safety. Collectively, our new team members have already completed more than 1,200,000 hours of safety training, with over 500,000 more hours expected, to ensure that in addition to fast and efficient delivery for our customers, we’re providing a safe and modern environment for our employees and partners.
