Agencies to hold health care meetings

The Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will conduct a series of town hall informational meetings about the Affordable Care Act across the state next week.

 

Many key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) will become effective Jan. 1, 2014, including the federal exchange which, according to the Department of Health and Human Services, will be available for enrollment beginning Oct. 1 of this year.

The 90-minute meetings will be open to anyone who has an interest in learning more about the law, otherwise known as Obamacare.

Staff will be available to provide information highlighting the most important issues people should be aware of.

In the Milwaukee area, town hall meetings will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the West Allis Public Library from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and at the Pewaukee Public Library from 2 to 3:30 p.m.; as well on Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Kenosha Public Library from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Additional meetings will be held next week in Rhinelander, Wausau, Eau Claire, La Crosse, Green Bay, Appleton, Madison and Cleveland, Wis.
