Around 858 acres in the town of Rome in Adams County have been sold to an LLC tied to the developer of the
Sand Valley Golf Resort near Nekoosa.
Archer North LLC acquired the land for $1.8 million from Weyerhaeuser Co., a Seattle-based timberland company, according to state records.
The principal office of Archer North shares a downtown Chicago address with Wisconsin Dunes LLC, the owner of the Sand Valley property. The address is also connected to other courses and projects from Michael Keiser, the developer of Sand Valley.
Sand Valley opened in May 2017 and added the Mammoth Dunes course in 2018. Both courses landed on the Golf Digest list of America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses in 2019. Sand Valley ranked 18
th and Mammoth Dunes ranked 27
th.
The resort, which has quickly become a top golf destination, has also added The Sandbox, a 17-hole par 3 course.
A fourth course, Sedge Valley, is also in the works with architect Tom Doak selected to design the layout.
The existing resort is located south of Archer Avenue around 2.5 miles west of Highway 13. Sedge Valley is being built to the west of the existing courses.
The land recently acquired by Archer North LLC from Weyerhaeuser, however, is located north of Archer and primarily between 15
th and 14
th avenues.
Keiser declined to comment on plans for the land.
