Advocate Aurora Health has postponed the opening of its new $130 million health center in Pleasant Prairie because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The facility, which includes a 100,000-square-foot ambulatory care facility and three-story 100,000-square-foot office building at the northwest corner of 104th Avenue and 120th Avenue, was slated to open June 8.

In light of COVID-19’s spread, the health system said on Friday it will “continue to assess the situation and determine the appropriate time to open the Pleasant Prairie facility.”

“Despite the momentary pause, our commitment to building a healthier community remains as strong as ever,” the system said in a statement. “Aurora Health Center in Pleasant Prairie is a cornerstone to extending care to patients in Kenosha County and southeast Wisconsin and we look forward to showcasing this new facility to our community in the future.”

Advocate Aurora broke ground for the project in October 2018. It’s located just south of where German gummy bear maker Haribo is planning its first U.S. production facility.

The facilities are expected to have 260 full-time employees, 140 of which will be newly created jobs, and 28 part-time employees, according to documents filed with the village.

Services at the health center will include primary care, orthopedics and urology, outpatient surgery, rehabilitation services, imaging laboratory services, occupational health and a pharmacy.
