The assets of Milwaukee-based
Acme Galvanizing Inc. have been acquired by
AZZ Inc., a Fort Worth, Texas-based provider of metal coating and welding solutions, specialty electrical equipment and highly engineered services.
Acme Galvanizing is a privately-held hot-dip galvanizing and zinc electroplating company with an 80,000-square-foot facility at 2730 S. 19
th St. The company was founded in 1919.
AZZ, a publicly-traded company, has around $1 billion in annual sales, including nearly $500 million from its metal coatings segment.
The company said it plans to operate the Acme plant as AZZ Galvanizing and Plating – Milwaukee going forward, integrating it into its existing network of 40 hot-dip galvanizing sites in North America. None of the existing sites are in Wisconsin, although three are located in Illinois and two are in Minnesota.
