Accurate Specialties Inc. announced Friday it will invest $4.5 million to expand its Waukesha facility and add a new Vertical Turning Center.
The company, a subsidiary of Watertown-based The Fisher-Barton Group, manufactures turned bronze gears for use in power transmission, oil refineries and mining. The expansion will create 20 high-skill jobs.
Accurate is expanding because its three largest customers have been ordering parts it didn’t have the capacity to make.
The Vertical Turning Center, a MAG VTC 2500, will allow the Accurate Specialties to make larger parts, up to eight feet in diameter.
Adding the new VTC is the first phase of the expansion project, which will also include larger furnaces and centrifugal casting machines.
“The larger gear blanks enabled by the MAG VTC 2500 are the natural next step for Accurate Specialties’ growth and are a response to direct requests from our customers around the world,” said Bill Sanders, president of Accurate Specialties. “We are excited that we will be able to provide additional value to our customers and add quality jobs to Waukesha and Wisconsin’s economy.”
