AC Zuckerman Jewelers in Mequon is closing after 25 years in business. The store, located at 1340 W. Mequon Road, will transition to a new ownership and reopen under a different name not yet announced, according to a news release by parent company Anna Zukerman Luxury.
"The new owners will bring an updated line of fine jewelry, with gold and diamond pieces, and will continue to assist existing customers, provide expedient repairs, and periodically unveil new and innovative designs to liven up the Milwaukee fashion scene," according to the release.
AC Zuckerman has been liquidating its inventory since June, and the going-out-of-business sale continues, with customers able to name their price, according to its
Facebook page. The store's last business day has yet to be determined, an employee told BizTimes over the phone. She didn't have additional details to share about the forthcoming ownership transition.
Boca Raton, Florida-based Anna Zukerman Luxury, which is currently sold in more than 500 retail outlets in 6 countries as well as online, opened the Mequon jewelry shop in 1996. Its closure comes as the brand shifts focus to ethically-sourced, lab-created, demi-precious gems.
"Leaving Wisconsin is very difficult for us, personally, but our commitment to offering affordable luxury to literally everyone means a clean break from my former life in traditional jewelry," said owner and founder Anna Zuckerman. "We opened our new corporate office and flagship AZL store in Boca Raton within the last year, and we’re now ready to formally and officially make demi-precious jewelry the foundation of this next stage."
