Dr. Ajay Sahajpal, a physician specializing in abdominal transplant surgery for Milwaukee-based Aurora Health Care, is working to reframe the narrative in the Milwaukee community to achieve health equity, according to colleagues.
“Outside of Dr. Sahajpal’s role and leadership, he has continued to create awareness, highlight and promote community initiatives to ensure health equity, equality, inclusion, access and affordability,” said Erik Kennedy, community relations senior coordinator for Advocate Health.
In 2019, Sahajpal was part of the Presidential Leadership Scholars, a bipartisan program that brought together leaders from across nonprofit, military, public and private sectors to help solve the nation’s greatest challenges, both domestically and globally. Since the program, Sahajpal has been appointed to Aurora’s System Hospital Board, overseeing 16 hospitals, and to the board of the Advocate Aurora Research Institute.
