Occupational and physical therapy services provider
Greenfield Rehabilitation Agency Inc. has expanded its presence into school districts throughout the region with its recent acquisition of Brown Deer-based
Dominiczak & Associates.
Roughly 20 employees of Dominiczak & Associates, a therapist-owned and -managed organization, have joined Greenfield Rehabilitation Agency as part of the acquisition, which closed Nov. 1. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
With about 500 employees, GRA provides physical, occupational and speech therapy services to senior communities, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies and in-home settings for aging adults throughout the state. In 2016, the agency acquired Rehab Resources, a firm that provided physical, occupational and speech therapy services to children. Now part of GRA, the pediatric division provides therapy services in outpatient clinics in southeastern Wisconsin, through partnerships with Birth-to-Three programs with roughly 17 counties and in school districts.
Since acquiring Rehab Resources five years ago, GRA owner and president Kate Brewer said she has been looking to expand her agency’s pediatric services. With the acquisition of Dominiczak & Associates, GRA will take on the firm's contracts to provide school-based therapy services in districts throughout southeastern Wisconsin counties.
Brewer and former Dominiczak & Associates owner Lori Dominiczak, both of whom are physical therapists, knew each other for years prior to the deal. Dominiczak has served as a consultant to help the transition but plans to retire from the business.
Retaining D&A’s staff members through the acquisition was one of Brewer’s highest priorities.
“Laurie had done such a great job of building her company and loyalty and fantastic team members, and I wanted to make sure we were able to maintain that great level of service and keep raising it with our own standards,” Brewer said. “And all team members did successfully come over to our team now so we’re thrilled about that.”
“Therapy services are really relationship-driven – it’s the relationship between the therapist and patient or therapist and student, the therapist and family," she added. "So you really want to make sure, when you have someone who fits really well with the organization and lives out your purpose and understands your values and gives great service to clients, you want to retain them."
GRA also plans to expand its pediatric services with the addition of an outpatient clinic that will soon open on its new 13,000-square-foot Brookfield headquarters, at 3360 Gateway Road. Brewer said the pediatric clinic will open within the next month. The agency was previously headquartered in a small office space at the Fox River Business Plaza, at 19395 W. Capitol Drive.
“We’re excited to take our agency office operations and combine them with a clinic and bring the community in and children and adults into our place,” she said.
In 2022, GRA plans to expand its presence in school systems and senior living settings. Brewer envisions eventually expanding its footprint beyond Wisconsin.
