Rogers Behavioral Health will open a new mental health research and resource center on its Oconomowoc campus next week.
The new Ladish Co. Foundation Center – funded by a $2 million donation from the foundation – houses the Rogers Behavioral Health Foundation, the health system’s research center and an array of hospitality and spiritual care services, including a new family room in partnership with Wauwatosa-based Ronald McDonald House Charities Eastern Wisconsin.
“This is our type of project,” said Gary Vroman, a trustee from the Ladish Co. Foundation. “We like to help people who help people. Beautiful things are going to happen in this building. This is a building that’s going to be filled with hope and healing and its ability to change people’s lives.”
The Ladish Co. Foundation was established by the founders of the manufacturing company, which was formerly based in Cudahy. Ladish Company was acquired by Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Technologies Inc. in 2011.
“After many months and years in development, it’s an exciting day to open the Ladish Center,” said Pat Hammer, president and chief executive officer of Rogers. “It is a one-of-its-kind mental health resource center and will take our support for families and the community to the next level. We are very grateful to our board of directors, generous donors and partners, our architect and construction partners, and all the people providing services in this facility.”
The family room program within the Ladish Center is designed to serve both families residing at Ronald McDonald House as well as other Rogers families. Among Ronald McDonald’s 300 family rooms worldwide, it is the second to be located within a behavioral health facility, Rogers said.
“Ronald McDonald House has been serving Rogers families for over 10 years,” said Ann Petrie, president and chief executive officer of RMHC Eastern Wisconsin. “We are grateful to the Rogers Foundation for putting their trust in the Ronald McDonald House to do what we do best, which is supporting families who are going through tough health situations with their child.”
Other features of the new center include the Tadross Family Chapel and meditation garden, in addition to a great hall, board room and community rooms for support groups, alumni events, parent classes and other special events.
In 2019, Rogers completed an expansion of its Oconomowoc campus, adding capacity to treat 62 more patients through several new and expanded programs, including a program for trauma recovery for adults, an OCD, anxiety and depression center for adolescents, and expanded programs for eating disorder recovery, depression recovery and OCD and anxiety.
