Kenosha-based
Snap-on Inc. plans to use the former M.G. Design Associates Corp. building in Pleasant Prairie that
it recently purchased for storage and warehousing operations.
In an application filed with the village, Snap-on said it will consolidate rented storage from around the Kenosha and Pleasant Prairie area into the 121,000-square-foot building, located at 8778 100th St. It will also move one of its warehousing operations there from its Kenosha headquarters.
Snap-on will primarily store hand tools, power tools, tool boxes and trade show materials in the building.
The relocation will be done in phases, starting with the consolidation of storage space. That phase would begin this month, according to the application. The next phase, which involves the warehousing relocation from Kenosha, is anticipated to take place in February.
Snap-On will employ 10 employees at the facility, according to a village staff report.
The village Plan Commission on Monday evening will consider
site and operational plans from Snap-on.
An affiliate of Snap-on acquired the building from Milwaukee-based Zilber Property Group in October for $9.2 million.
Zilber bought the building in August 2019 for $6.84 million and marketed it to industrial users.
The facility is located in LakeView Corporate Park. It features six docks and two drive-in doors, 12,000 square feet of office space and 115 parking spaces.
M.G. Design was its occupant for 20 years before vacating the space last year, according to the staff report. The company
shut down in 2018.
