Land in Oak Creek where
a 101,200-square-foot indoor sports complex is proposed has been sold for $2 million, according to state records.
The 3.9-acre site is northeast of the I-94 Drexel Avenue interchange. More specifically, it is in the northwest corner of the 24-acre
Highgate commercial development site. Other projects there include
a neighborhood hospital by Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin andÂ
a Summit Credit Union branch.
The buyer is MW Yard Investments LLC, which is registered to Bill Gust. The seller is an affiliate of Brookfield-based
Somerstone LLC, the developer leading the Highgate project.
Gust owns indoor sports facilities in Naperville, Illinois, and Westmont, Illinois, and has plans to build his latest facility in Oak Creek.
Plans filed earlier this year with the city indicate the two-story building would provide indoor sports and training facilities that cater to soccer, baseball, football, lacrosse and cheerleading. The first floor is to have two indoor fields and the second floor would contain four smaller fields.
Its first floor would also have a daycare area and eight spaces for commercial tenants. Those spaces would likely be occupied by retailers or services that cater to sports needs, according to city documents.
The Highgate development is located just across the freeway from the new Ikea furniture store. The remaining vacant land south of that store is to be developed into
two hotels and a conference center, along with
143 apartment units and a freestanding retail building, according to two separate development plans.
