Cream City Foundation names new CEO

Milwaukee-based Cream City Foundation has named Gary Balcerzak as its president and chief executive officer.

Balcerzak was previously vice president of operations at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee. He succeeds former foundation president and CEO Brett Blomme, who in April was elected to Milwaukee County Circuit Court’s Branch 5 seat.

The Cream City Foundation, formed in 1982, is a philanthropic organization that supports efforts to improve the quality of life for LGBTQ+ people in southeastern Wisconsin.

“It was agreed that we wanted someone who respected the past and will move us into the future, addressing the economic, health, equity, and prosperity needs of the LGBTQ+ Community,” said Sam Hall, board chairperson of Cream City Foundation. “The board’s vote was unanimous; we are confident that Gary has the talent and skills to guide Cream City Foundation for years to come.”

Balcerzak has been in various roles with Aurora Health Care for nearly 20 years. While at Sinai, he worked to obtain designation from the Human Rights Campaign as the first Aurora hospital with a 100% rating in the Healthcare Equity Index.

He is also an adjunct professor at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the Master of Healthcare Administration program, where he focuses on process improvement.
