Advocate Aurora breaks ground on $228 million Mount Pleasant project

Medical center expected to open in 2022

Advocate Aurora Health broke ground Wednesday to celebrate the start of construction for its planned $228 million development in Mount Pleasant.

The project will include a 198,000-square-foot medical center and 98,000-square-foot medical office building on a 96-acre complex located northeast of I-94 and Highway 20 in Mount Pleasant. The medical center will offer inpatient care, surgical services, an emergency department, along with rehabilitation, imaging, laboratory and pharmacy services.

The medical center is expected to open in 2022. Advocate Aurora said the development will create 300 new jobs in the area in its first year.

In addition to the new medical center, Advocate Aurora is building several new facilities in Racine and Kenosha counties, including a clinic in Mount Pleasant, a clinic in Racine, and an ambulatory surgery center and physician office building in Pleasant Prairie. All those facilities are scheduled to open in 2020.

“This facility is the cornerstone of our commitment to help build an even stronger and healthier community,” said Lisa Just, president of Advocate Aurora Health’s east corridor patient service area. “Along with the clinics we’re building across Racine County, the Aurora Medical Center in Mount Pleasant will increase access to services that will help people live healthier lives.”

Other health systems are also adding new facilities in the area.
