The Mecca Sports Bar and Grill will celebrate its grand opening on Friday as the fourth establishment to open in the Entertainment Block adjoining Fiserv Forum.
The sports bar, which offers a menu of elevated sports bar fare and a sensory-driven “in-game” atmosphere, has been open since late last week with limited hours for dinner service only.
Now through May 12, it will operate from 4 p.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and from 4 p.m. to close on Friday and Saturday. Starting May 13, The Mecca will open at 11 a.m. daily.
The two-story, 11,500-square-foot venue, which is named after the Milwaukee Bucks’ former home (now known as UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena), has a total of 65 TVs– the largest being its nearly-floor-to-ceiling 38-foot HD screen. That centerpiece is framed by nine 90-inch TVs and is visible from both the ground and upper levels of the bar.Â
With a capacity of 750 people, the space includes two full-sized bar areas, outdoor seating on both levels and “arena-style” seating on the second floor. It will available to be rented for private events.Â
Its menu includes a range of traditional and unique items including Wisconsin staples like cheese curds and nachos as well as a vegetable stir fry, Alaskan salmon, crispy shrimp tacos, edamame and Nashville Hot Fried Chicken. And its full bar selection will celebrate local breweries and distilleries
“The Mecca Sports Bar and Grill will offer guests an experience like no other,” said Justin Green, vice president of hospitality for the Bucks. “The stellar audiovisual equipment and a unique menu of elevated sports bar fare will make The Mecca the ultimate bar and restaurant to watch sports in Milwaukee.”Â
The sports bar’s opening will complete the development plans the Bucks have announced for the Entertainment Block, which now houses five drinking establishments.
Good City Brewing, Punch Bowl Social and Drink Wisconsinbly Pub, all opened earlier this year and a Bucks-operated outdoor beer garden opened last fall. The Mecca shares a building with Good City Brewing, while Punch Bowl and Drink Wisconsinbly share a separate structure.
“Deer District is quickly becoming an exciting and bustling neighborhood in downtown Milwaukee, and The MECCA Sports Bar and Grill within it will be a prime destination for sports fans showcasing the Bucks and all Wisconsin sports,” said Michael Belot, senior vice president of Bucks Ventures and Development.
Deer District is the Bucks’ recently named 30-acre development area in downtown Milwaukee, anchored by Fiserv Forum.Â
