Pella Windows & Doors of Wisconsin plans to open a showroom at the former Golf Galaxy building in the town of Brookfield.
Green Bay-based VerHalen Inc., a dealer for Pella, Iowa-based Pella Windows & Doors, recently leased the approximately 17,000-square-foot building at 19030 Bluemound Road. Mike Calawerts, co-owner of VerHalen, said his group is working with Brookfield-based Altius Building Co. to remodel the space and plans to be operating there by June 1.
The new showroom will replace its existing Brookfield location at 13745 W. Capitol Drive, said Calawerts. Pella Windows & Doors of Wisconsin has had a presence in Brookfield for more than 25 years.
VerHalen additionally has showrooms in Madison, Appleton and Green Bay. Another affiliated business, VerHalen Commercial Interiors, has offices in Green Bay and Menomonee Falls. This division of VerHalen performs work such as steel studs, drywall and acoustical ceilings and is a contract furniture dealer.
Before ultimately deciding on the Golf Galaxy building, VerHalen considered other properties for its new Brookfield Pella Windows & Doors showroom, including the former Fun World building at 620 Elizabeth Court. But at 25,000 square feet, the facility was a little too big for the company’s needs, said Calawerts.
“When the former Golf Galaxy location … became available, we felt it was more suitable in size for our needs,” he said. “We are very excited to begin remodeling this space into a state-of-the-art Pella showroom.”
Calawerts said the decision to look elsewhere for the new showroom was made six to eight months ago.
The former Fund World building was sold recently to the owners of Stefans Soccer, who said they plans to use the facility for a new flagship store, headquarters operations and warehouse space. As part of its plans, the specialty store is closings two of its existing stores in Fox Point and Brookfield and is also selling its current corporate office and warehouse facility in New Berlin, said co-owner Anne Nowakowski. Having the three separate operations under the same roof will increase production and logistics efficiency, she added.
