Menomonee Falls-based flexible packaging manufacturer Glenroy Inc. is planning to add around 108,000 square feet to its facility along Interstate 41, potentially leading to almost 100 new jobs, according to plans submitted to the village.
The addition would connect two existing buildings to make room for additional manufacturing operations. Currently, around 110,000 square feet is dedicated to manufacturing, 68,000 square feet is used for warehouse and 15,000 square feet is used for office space.
“Glenroy has invested in technology, added skill sets and talked exhaustively with core customer groups and others to gain a better understanding of how to best meet the needs of the marketplace,” a narrative submitted to the village says. “The success in realizing those plans is nonetheless causing capacity concerns sooner than anticipated, and Glenroy cannot sustain the current growth rate without expanding the facilities.”
Under the proposal, the company would construct a new building between an existing distribution facility along Megal Drive and a manufacturing facility that runs along Hillside Lane. The addition would follow the shape of Industrial Avenue, which is located just west of the site.
Glenroy provides flexographic printing, extrusion lamination, adhesive lamination, slitting and minishing and premade pouching. The company was founded in 1965 and is in its third generation of ownership by the Jablonka family.
The company currently has 203 full-time employees and two part-time staff members. When the addition reaches full capacity, the company expects to have added 82 full-time jobs and 14 part-time positions, according to plans submitted to the village.
The Menomonee Falls plan commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing and consider the proposal on Tuesday.
