The 2016 Milwaukee Film Festival attracted 76,899 attendees, an 8 percent increase over. This was the eighth year for the annual event.
Held from Sept. 22 to Oct. 6, included 283 films from 51 countries at five venues (on six screens).
Public film screenings included a total of 58,355 attendees, while private weekday Education Screenings hosted a total of 8,290 students (grades 1 through 12) at the historic Oriental Theatre. In addition, this year’s festival had 87 sold-out screenings (compared to 77 in 2015).
Attendance for the film festival was 70,885 in 2015, about 64,000 in 2014 and about 55,000 in 2013.
