The owners of Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. are planning to open a fourth location in the downtown village area of Wauwatosa.
Matthew McClutchy and his wife, Lacee Perry, have submitted plans with the city to open a café at 7471 Harwood Ave., in the space adjacent to Niemann’s Candies and Ice Cream.
McClutchy and Perry currently operate coffee shops in Milwaukee’s Bay View neighborhood at 2920 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., in the Milwaukee Public Market in the Third Ward and in the city’s Walker’s Point neighborhood at 224 W. Bruce St.
“We believe our years of experience combined with our growing brand awareness will assist us in building another successful and respected café on Harwood Avenue that will complement and enhance the unique cultural and business diversity that exists in the Tosa Village,” McClutchy said in a letter to city officials.
McClutchy was born in Wauwatosa and is a 1986 graduate of Tosa East. He and his wife currently live in Bay View with their four children.
“I have always had the intention of ‘coming home’ with an Anodyne Café,” he said. “The coincidence of the vacancy in the Niemann’s shop and the improvements underway in the village as a whole make this the right time.”
In addition to the coffee menu, plans include a small craft beer and wine menu and outdoor patios in the front and back of the café. The café would employ 15 people.
The village plan commission will vote on the proposal Aug. 8.
