Portillo’s offered select fans a chance to try its new Brookfield restaurant at Pre-Opening Sneak Peek Training Meals beginning Monday.
The Chicago-style hot dog, sausage and Italian beef restaurant is offering free meals over the course of the week to customers who pre-registered last month as a way to test its operations and train its approximately 200 employees.
Located at 17685 W. Bluemound Road, this is the Oak Brook, Ill.-based chain’s 44th restaurant and its first in Wisconsin. The company announced the new restaurant in October, and is also planning other area locations.
While it’s part of a chain, the first Wisconsin Portillo’s does have a few local touches, from Harley-Davidson memorabilia on the walls to a Badger Brat on the menu.
In a letter to Training Meal ticketholders, founder Dick Portillo said, “There’s nothing more important to the success of our new restaurant than properly training our team members. We can’t wait to bring the Portillo’s experience to you from our new home in Wisconsin.”
