Global Industrial Services Inc., Global Equipment Company Inc. and Products for Industry LLC plan to terminate 27 employees from their offices at 11200 W. Parkland Ave. in Milwaukee.
The companies, collectively known as Global Industrial, filed notice with the state of Wisconsin on Monday after providing notice to employees last week. The elimination of positions is expected to start Aug. 15.
Global Industrial provides private label and brand name industrial equipment and supplies to businesses throughout North America. The company is a subsidiary of New York-based Systemax Inc. The parent company reported a 12 percent drop in revenue and $48.3 million loss from continuing operations in fiscal 2015.
“Our Milwaukee operations are an integral part of our national footprint,” Systemax said in a statement. “We continuously look at our structure to ensure we are optimally positioned and recently streamlined certain back office functions which did result in the elimination of some positions in Milwaukee. Milwaukee is an important and growing location for our company and we are actively recruiting new associates to support our future expansion, specifically in our customer service and sales teams.”
The company currently has 100 employees in Milwaukee.
The state Department of Workforce Development said Employ Milwaukee, formerly known as the the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board, will offer services to the affected workers.
