Kohl’s will donate $1 million to Junior Achievement of Wisconsin over the next three years through the company’s philanthropic program, Kohl’s Cares.
The money will be used to support Junior Achievement’s capstone programs at its Kohl’s Education Center, which teaches more than 20,000 students in Wisconsin about entrepreneurship, budgeting, savings and debt each year.
“Kohl’s is proud to partner with Junior Achievement of Wisconsin and encourages their innovative efforts to increase student success and graduation rates,” said Kohl’s spokesperson Jen Johnson in a statement released Tuesday. “The JA Kohl’s Education Center continues to be a popular destination for Wisconsin schools and supports the development of future business leaders.”
Junior Achievement built the education center with a $3 million donation from Kohl’s in 2010. Over the past five years, Kohl’s and Kohl’s Cares have committed more than $5.7 million to Junior Achievement.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Kohl’s,” says Tim Greinert, president of Junior Achievement of Wisconsin. “This funding will significantly enhance the learning applications offered to local students through the JA Kohl’s Education Center. Engaging these students early on in a meaningful and memorable way will help arm them with the skills they need as adults.”
