Ever been to the Milwaukee County Zoo at night?
On April 29, kids and families will get a chance to observe tigers, kangaroos and emus after hours during the Zoological Society of Milwaukee’s annual “Zootastic” fundraiser.
The event runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will give kids and families a chance to learn about animals, eat pizza, build ice cream sundaes and “bust a move” to what the organization describes as a “kid-friendly DJ.”
Zookeepers will be at the Harbor Seals, giraffe, Big Cats and Australia exhibits to teach kids touring the grounds about the animals and answer questions. The fundraiser will also include a dance party, a family photo station, a raffle and an auction.
“It’s a great time for families, it’s a special family night and it’s affordable,” said Zoological Society spokesperson Stacy Vogel Davis. “It’s just something that a lot of families do every year and they remember as a special night.”
For Zoo Pass members, admission to Zootastic costs $75 for a family of four, or $15 for children 12 and under and $25 for anyone 13 and older. Admission for non-members is $80 for a family of four, or $20 for kids 12 and under and $30 for anyone 13 and older.
Money raised through ticket sales, raffle tickets and the auction will go to the Zoological Society’s general operations fund, which supports the Milwaukee County Zoo and local conservation efforts.
Families can pre-register for the event on the Zoological Society’s website, but walk-ins will also be accepted at the gate if the event doesn’t fill up before hand.
