BizTimes Wellness Summit to focus on stress in the workplace

Employee anxiety can be costly to companies

BizTimes Media will focus on “The High Cost of High Stress” at its annual Wellness Summit breakfast on Friday, March 18, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, 1721 W. Canal St. in Milwaukee.

Keynote speaker Greg Schramka, Psy.D., director of behavioral health therapy services at Aurora Behavioral Health Services, will address the sources of employee stress and strategies to understand and improve employees’ mental health and motivation.

Schramka’s presentation will be followed by a panel discussion, “Back to the basics,” about the path to a healthier life moderated by Paul Nobile, interim president of Anthem Blue Cross Wisconsin. Jennifer Smith-Hulbert, general manager and WorkingWell director at the Wisconsin Athletic Club will offer her perspective, along with a sleep specialist and a nutritionist.

The Wellness Summit will also include a presentation on the “Opportunity costs of an unhealthy workforce” and the tools available to foster a culture of wellness, with insight from Paul Shekoski, chief executive officer of Primex Family of Companies, Carrie Phelps, Ph.D., BCC, CWWS, director of membership at the National Wellness Institute; and Jerry Curtin, president of Cultivate by Standard Process.

A wellness fair will also take place throughout the Wellness Summit, with interactive exhibits from local wellness practitioners.
