Cudahy-based Roadrunner Transportation Systems today announced it had taken steps to upgrade its services in Texas, Tennessee and throughout its network.
The asset-light transportation and logistics provider said it had moved into newly constructed facilities to replace smaller ones in Dallas and Houston with the aim of serving a growing customer base. The 120,000-square-foot Dallas facility has 79 doors while the 60,000-square-foot Houston facility has 39.
The company will also now operate its own facility in Memphis, Tenn. to add capacity and improve service levels to the market. Roadrunner previously operated in Memphis through a partner agent and is expecting rapid growth with its own employees and contractors servicing the area.
Roadrunner will also begin offering an optional premium service with guaranteed delivery on a scheduled day in select major-metro markets, including Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta, Milwaukee and Charlotte.
The company also took a close look at its network and freight movement and adjusted its published service standards to increase the accuracy of transit times.
“Our strategy is to increase our investment and presence in key locations across the United States, while providing a consistent, reliable service and economical value to our growing customer base,” said Grant Crawford, Roadrunner LTL president. “Our investments into new and expanded direct facilities will assist us in fueling growth.”
The company last week reported a 6.5 percent increase in revenue for fiscal 2015 to $1.9 billion, although the company’s fourth quarter was down on lower freight volumes and lost fuel surcharge revenue.
