The Coburn Company Inc., a Whitewater-based manufacturer of livestock supplies and milking equipment, purchased a former Trek Bicycle building that will serve as its future headquarters.
Trek Bicycle Corp. of Waterloo sold the 168,000-square-foot-building at 1170 Universal Blvd. in Whitewater for $4 million, according to state records.
“We’re starting to move in, and should be fully moved in after some renovations by next March,” said chief executive officer Thayer Coburn.
Approximately 50 people will work in the one-story warehouse building that sits on 17.4 acres. The building includes a couple two-story offices, Coburn said.
The Coburn Company currently operates out of two buildings, a 30,000-square-foot one and a 50,000-square-foot one. Coburn said the new building was needed in order to consolidate the operations under one roof. He also said the company has been growing, partly due to new product lines.
The company is moving out of the two buildings, which they have occupied for 10 and 40 years, and they are up for sale.
Trek Bicycle was not available for comment on the sale of the building.
