Froedtert & the Medical College names new chief information officer

Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin has appointed William Showalter senior vice president and chief information officer, following the retirement of former senior leader Robert DeGrand.

As head of IT for Froedtert & the Medical College, Showalter will focus on strategic planning, implementation and maintenance for IT operations.

Prior to joining the Wauwatosa-based health care system, Showalter served as senior vice president of information technology at Wellmont Health System in Kingsport, Tenn. He also previously was vice president and chief information officer for Mercy Health in St. Louis, Mo. And chief information officer for Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis, Minn. Additionally, he filled leadership roles within Siemens Health Services and was part of the Information Systems and Technology faculty at the University of Minnesota.

Showalter attended the University of Pittsburgh and received a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree in planning and administration, and a graduate certificate in information systems management.

Froedtert & the Medical College functions as a regional health care network and is composed of Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls, and St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Bend – on top of more than 30 primarily and specialty care health centers and clinic sites.
