Menomonee Falls-based MTE Corp. is investing in capital equipment, expanding its building, and broadening its reach in Asia and South America.
The designer, manufacturer and distributor of high-efficiency electrical power quality solutions for commercial and industrial applications recently invested more than $500,000 in improvements.
Among them is the addition of 10,000 square feet of office space to its 44,000-square-foot facility. That expansion, which began in June, is expected to be completed this month.
Z. Zakaria, director of marketing and product management, said the investment is a result of the growth the manufacturer has achieved over the past few years.

He did not disclose MTE’s annual revenue, but said the company has experienced five consecutive years of double-digit growth, due in part to its enhanced product portfolio.
MTE has four major product lines of power quality solutions that are used to protect electrical equipment, bring harmonics into compliance, improve the efficiency of variable speed motor drive systems and protect motors.
The primary industries MTE serves are oil and gas; water/wastewater; and HVAC.
MTE’s clients are worldwide, and the company is working to broaden its global reach. It announced in July that it opened a subsidiary in Singapore, called MTE Power Quality Solutions Pte. Ltd., that will act as the Asia Pacific region headquarters.
Previously, MTE’s presence in Asia consisted of a sales team based in China.
MTE also has a sales team in Argentina that covers South America, and Zakaria said the company plans to expand that office in the coming year. He did not disclose further specifics of that expansion.
Formed in 1982, MTE was acquired by New Jersey-based SL Industries in 2006. SL Industries has three business units including the high power group, of which MTE is a member.
Along with MTE, San Diego-based TEAL Electronics Corp. is part of the high power group. The group in total had revenue of $85 million in 2014. SL Industries had $204 million in revenue last year.
MTE operates on one or two shifts depending on product demand, according to Zakaria. The company declined to disclose employee numbers.
The general manufacturing process of the products consists of winding the copper, varnishing, painting and attaching the electrical leads.
MTE sells its power quality solutions through distribution channels or directly to businesses.
Headquartered in Menomonee Falls for the past two decades, MTE recently extended its lease through 2020, a move the company says reaffirms its commitment to the village.
“From a technical standpoint, this area is rich with the expertise we need,” Zakaria said. “And from a workforce perspective, we can get some really good quality people.”
