BoardStar Inc., of Milwaukee will celebrate its statewide expansion with its Evening Under the Stars: A Unique Celebration of Nonprofit Boards, at the Daniel M. Soref Planetarium, 800 W. Wells St., on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m.
BoardStar was formerly a program offered by the Milwaukee-based Nonprofit Management Fund. The organization announced in early July it’s plans to become its own 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and pursue its statewide initiative.
“The Nonprofit Management Fund seeks to identify and develop programs that will fill gaps in service to the nonprofit community,” Wyzbinski said. “BoardStar filled a gap and increased management resources for nonprofits, and will continue to do that now, as its own separate entity.”
BoardStar is a nonprofit organization focused on serving nonprofit boards, and the goal of the organization is to strengthen the boards of all nonprofits, including now those outside of the Milwaukee area, Wyzbinski said.
“Right now we are the only organization in the state who has nonprofit boards as a part of its mission,” Wyzbinski said. “And a board of directors is the only thing that all nonprofit organizations in Wisconsin have to have. It’s a need that must be served and should be served statewide.”
Guests at the event will get to experience a dinner buffet, followed by an exclusive planetarium show. The Madison-based Cycropia Aerial Dance Troupe will perform on trapeze and hand loops as well and a silent and live auction will also be featured.
“This will be the first evening of its kind at the Milwaukee Public Museum’s planetarium,” said Cori Coffman, event designer. “It will be more than an event. It will be an experience.”
Cost to attend is $75 or $150 per couple, reservations are required by Thursday, Sept. 30. For more information visit www.boardstar.org
