Milwaukee Empty Bowl’s will host its annual “Bowl-a-Thon” on Saturday, May 8 at Murray Hill Pottery Works, 2458 N. Murray Ave. Each year, potters gather at the studio to produce 800 bowls in eight hours. Once the bowls are fired, Murray Hill students and volunteers glaze the bowls and they are donated to be sold at the Milwaukee Empty Bowls fundraiser held every fall.
“We’re so fortunate to once again have the help of Murray Hill Pottery Works and all the potters, students and volunteers who make this event such a marvelous success. It is truly because of their generosity, that the Milwaukee Empty Bowls fundraiser could ever take place,” said Jean Wells, president of Milwaukee Empty Bowls.
Since 1999 the organization has donated more than $322,000 to food banks and pantries in the Milwaukee area. Visit www.milwaukeeemptybowls.org for more information.
