Milwaukee continues to help with Haiti Relief Efforts.

Local organizations in Milwaukee continue to set up fundraisers and events centered around earthquake relief in Haiti.

Local organizations in Milwaukee continue to set up fundraisers and events for the relief effort to help the earthquake victims of Haiti. Milwaukee’s Water for Haiti event held last night at Discovery World, Pier Wisconsin brought community leaders and business leaders together to raise more than $28,000 for the effort. All donations collected went to the American Red Cross International Disaster Relief Fund. According to Tracy Sparrow, chief executive officer of the American Red Cross in Southeastern Wisconsin, the event raised $28,903 for the relief effort, including a $13,000 gift from A.O. Smith Corporation and a $10,000 gift from Milwaukee-based Badger Meter Inc. Both companies expect they will collect more from their employees in the coming days, Sparrow said.

"The American Red Cross appreciates the support of this event for the people of Haiti," Sparrow said. "The generosity of this community is amazing."
