Marquette University has filled another of its vacant leadership positions with Brian Till, Ph.D., who has been named the next James H. Keyes Dean for the College of Business Administration and Graduate School of Management.
Till, currently dean of the Williams College of Business at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, will take over Marquette’s business school on July 13, succeeding Mark Eppli, Ph.D. who has filled in as interim dean since August 2012.
Till has served as dean of the Williams College for about three years.
“Dr. Till brings to Marquette a wealth of experience as an administrator, business leader and scholar, all of which position him to advance the College of Business Administration and bring it to a new level of excellence,” Marquette president Michael Lovell, Ph.D. said in a statement. “He has a deep understanding of what it means to be a Jesuit business school, and Marquette will benefit greatly from his leadership.”
Prior to his leadership role at Xavier, Till was part of the marketing faculty at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa., and Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Mo. During his final seven years at Saint Louis University, he was committed to chairing the marketing department.
Till also is a published author, brings experience with AACSB business school accreditation processes and has been certified in the use and interpretation of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.
Additionally, he has received many teaching awards throughout his academic career and has been active on a variety of boards, including Forest Releaf of Missouri and Stella Maris child Center in St. Louis. He headed that board as president for four years. He has also devoted time to the boards of Cincinnati Works in Cincinnati as well as the contemporary Art Center, the Regional Economic Development Initiative and New Edgecliff Theater.
Before launching his career in academia, Till was a brand manager for Purina. His career has also included marketing, branding and advertising consulting for companies such as Monsanto, Energizer, Medicine Shoppe International, Growmark and AT&T.
“I am very pleased to be joining the College of Business Administration at Marquette University as the Keyes Dean,” Till said. “The college and Marquette University both have an excellent reputation, and I look forward to working with the faculty and staff of the college in moving it forward.”
Till completed a bachelor’s degree in advertising and a Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his doctorate degree in marketing from the University of South Carolina.
As Eppli prepares to depart the helm of the business school, Lovell called his leadership “commendable.”
“He propelled the college forward in ways that few interim deans can, and Marquette is grateful for that,” Lovell said.
Eppli plans to return to his role as a professor of finance and the Robert B. Bell Sr. Chair in Real Estate. He has held those positions since 2002.
