Cardinal Stritch names new chairman to board of trustees

Cardinal Stritch University has appointed Thomas Myers as chairman of the university’s board of trustees, according to a recent statement from the university. Myers was vice chairman of the board for a year and has served as member of the board since 2005. He will take over for chairman David Hawke, who has been on the board since 2001.
Myers works as a shareholder for Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren’s business law practice, focusing on mergers and acquisitions. He also serves as lead attorney for both sellers and buyers of businesses, such as large retailers, software companies and manufacturers. He was included in America’s leading lawyers for business from 2008-2010 by Chambers USA and was recognized as one of the top-rated lawyers in Wisconsin by Martindale-Hubbell. Myers earned a Juris Doctor degree from Creighton University Law School and a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Chicago and belongs to the State Bar of Wisconsin. He participates on the board of directors for a number of community organizations like Ozaukee County Economic Development Corporation, Girl Scouts Milwaukee Council, and The Parenting Network. He also served as board chair of the social service agency La Causa. “I first joined the board [at Cardinal Stritch] to help Milwaukee move forward and explore how to help the city take advantage of its significant number of higher education institutions,” Myers said in a statement. “I have always been committed to social service work oriented toward youth, so it was a natural fit to get involved at Stritch.” Myers said he has particularly enjoyed helping first-generation college students succeed at Cardinal Stritch during his time as a trustee. He was officially appointed chairman on Aug. 1.
