Concordia names new dean of students

Concordia University Wisconsin Mequon recently named Sarah Holtan its new dean of students.

Holtan has been teaching full-time at CUW for the past six years as an assistant professor of Communication. Prior to teaching, she was a news producer at WISN-TV in Milwaukee.
“My vision for this position is an improved sense of community for all students by bringing the learning environment outside the classroom,” Holtan said. “Students learn better when they are significantly involved in campus activities and are provided opportunities to engage with others in meaningful projects.”
Holtan will retain her faculty rank/title at the University. Her new title will include both dean of students and associate professor of communication.
Her primary responsibilities will include the development of leadership programs for student leaders, managing the student conduct and complaint system, serving the Good Samaritan Team and Student Life Council, coordinating and evaluating annual goals and objectives, and directing student orientation, clubs, and organizations. She will also act as the chief student personnel officer of the University in the absence of the vice president of student life.
